Beta Testing

Current version is 4.4.11 RC3

Beta version is not fully tested and can contain bugs. If you found any bug please contact us. But we are working hard to make beta versions as stable as possible. In beta version you will find many new features that come with next release of True Launch Bar.

Mixed view modes for menu items

Now you can use the standard menu items with the text and icons and the buttons with icon only view mode in the single menu. This feature will make your menus smaller and you can add more icons. To turn the menu item into the icon, right-click menu item, select Appearance submenu and click Icon menu item.

Improved performance and resource using

The current beta version must be much faster especially if you are using the skins. We optimized the virtual folders processing, so TLB will load virtual folder faster then previous versions. Also we've redesigned the way True launch Bar working with the icons. Now True Launch Bar uses much less the GDI resources. This is especially important for Windows 7 users.

Improved skins

Since version 4.4.1 beta the skinning system has been updated. Now it is possible to create menus with the rounded corners. Improved support for Windows Vista/7 Aero interface. This beta version contain some new skins we've created specially for Windows 7:

The search box

We've added the search box support. This looks and works like the search box in the Windows Vista/7. Press CTRL+F, type the part of the name you want to find and True Launch Bar will find the shortcuts:

Currently the search box works only for virtual folders. The support for other menus will be released soon. Also we plan to modify the plugins to add the search support.

The buttons on the menu caption

Now you can add the buttons on the menu caption. These buttons allow you to perform common tasks without opening the context menu: Close, TLB Settings, Customize menu/submenus, Refresh, Lock buttons. Other buttons can open the submenus like New, View, Arrange Icons By, Related. All buttons can be integrated with the skins.

In-place renaming

Now you can rename the shortcuts or/and files in-place. No more the popup dialog box if the button have the text shown. You can press F2 to quickly rename the items.

The Simple Transparency for menus

If your Windows don't support the Aero Glass, you can use the simple transparency for menus. The simple transparency works like the glass effect: the menu background is transparent but the icons and text are opaque (see the screenshot). Also you can combine the menus with Aero Glass (if supported) and Simple Transparency via context menu View.

Note for Windows XP: When the Simple Transparency is turned on, the text of the menu items can look a bit different with less quality. You can increase the font size or use the text glow to make text better.

Redesigned TLB Settings dialog box

We tried to order the option by object (toolbar/ menu) to make the TLB Settings dialog box more compact. We hope the new TLB Settings dialog box will help you to find the needed options more quickly.

Toolbar background for Standalone True Launch Bar

With new version of the Standalone True Launch Bar the toolbar background color or the overlay image applied to the entire toolbar. No more the non-colored frame.
