Frequently Asked Questions
One of the feature of the Vista you can't to detach the toolbars like in the Windows XP. But you still can to create the toolbar not only on the taskbar. Here are the steps you need to process:
- Minimize all windows to get the clear desktop
- Take the Computer icon by the left mouse button and drag it to any side of the screen as close as possible
- When you drop the Computer icon Vista will create the toolbar with the content of the Computer folder
- Right-click the empty space of toolbar select Toolbars->True Launch Bar...
- To close the Computer toolbar, right-click the empty space of toolbar remove the checkmark from the Toolbars->Computer
Now you have TLB in the external toolbar.
Unfortunately this method is not working on Windows 7. Windows 7 does not support the standard external toolbars. But you can use the Standalone True Launch Bar to create the toolbar outside the taskbar. You can find the shortcut to the Standalone True Launch Bar in Start->All Programs->True Launch Bar.
The Standalone True Launch Bar is the same True Launch Bar, but it is working without Windows Explorer. Moreover The Standalone True Launch Bar have some own options to change the toolbar appearance and aouto-hide behavior.
